Khagol Mandal is glad to announce Book release function of “Tarangan: A Complete Guide to Night Sky” written by Pradeep Nayak on 22 April 2018 at 1730 hrs at Auditorium, Ruia College, Matunga. The publication will done by eminent astrophysicist Padmabhushan Prof. Shashikumar Chitre.
A special interactive program is also planned following the book release function. ” Interactions with Prof. Chitre” is an hour long chat with Prof. Chitre about variety of topics. Memoirs of his Cambridge days and time with well known Prof. Stephan Hawking is one of the main focus. Prof. Chitre’s work on Sun at Cambridge which helped him establish life long tryst with “Sun” will be discussed at length. His days at TIFR and establishing India as leading research country in Solar Physics and various other astrophysics problems that he helped tackle in his long career will be next part of the interactions.
Prof. Chitre us well known for establishing and guiding Nehru Planetarium as well as very well supportive of NGO like Khagol Mandal. How important is it for a researcher to take out some time and help inculcate spirit of science in young minds ! This aspect is more towards the aims of Khagol Mandal.
